Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the workshop on python and its applications for astronomical research, as well as on some aspects of astro-statistics. Preliminary program includes:

  • Introduction to Python for beginners
  • pandas, databases, astropy, rpy2, SciKits, theano for more advanced participants
  • Plotting astronomical data
  • Object Oriented programming
  • Key scientific packages: numpy, scipy, matplotlib, ...
  • pyNEB

Organization
The conference is organized under HECOLS (Polish-French collaboration in astrophysics) program, which is coordinated by prof. Paweł Haensel from N. Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) and by dr. Jean-Baptiste Marquette from Institute d’Astrophysique de Paris (IAP), in collaboration with the Toruń Center for Astronomy (TCfA) directed by prof. Michał Hanasz. Technical support of the workshop provides Aleksander Jabłoński Foundation (FAJ). There will be 40 participants in total. Conference site and accomodation
The workshop will be held in the Institute of Physics NCU in Toruń, Grudziądzka 5. Each participant should find accommodation by himself. The nearby B&B hotel, Hotel Uniwersytecki and Student Dormitory DS 10 offer slightly reduced prices for the participants. Please use password “Python” during registration.
